I used it 3 semitones lower simultaneously with an attenuated VST3 cymbal and a low-pitched (one octave lower/ suboctavic) simple crash attack which doesn't include a ride because rides are dominant.

The duration is something important. It's not normal to have a puny sound or a very long which covers the other sounds. Except as an exception. Exceptions happen all the time but they are controlled and you have to select amongst alternative durations.
